An all-purpose saltwater line ideally suited for fly fishers fishing in temperate-to-tropical conditions for multiple species.

The line features a self-lubricating tropical coating on a multifilament core that retains the casting loop in tropical heat, yet has low memory in temperate conditions.

The taper design is based on the popular Rio Clouser taper with a quick-loading 36ft head and bullet front taper that will turn over big flies in the wind.

Rio Tarpon Saltwater Lines

The choice of Florida captains.

With a short, forward taper and a hard, smooth coating on a stiff single strand monofilament core, Rio's Tarpon fly lines can cast heavy tarpon flies long distances with improved accuracy and great turnover.

Total head length varies from 36ft - 40ft (11m - 12.3m). Available as a full floating line or floating line with a 9ft AquaLux intermediate sinking tip (1.5ips). The sinking tip has no loops or joints.

It is very useful because unlike a full intermediate fly line, the angler can roll cast once to break the line loose, and get a second shot at the tarpon.

Florida bonefish are normally found in deeper waters of two to four feet. With the 9ft clear sinking AquaLux intermediate tip, you will get your fly down to the bonefish.

The line features the Rio Powerflex core and Clouser taper and is the line of choice when the wind is blowing (which is almost all the time).

Wonderful to cast in to a fifteen knot breeze. Sounds unbelievable, but this line will turn over a 12ft - 15ft leader in a strong wind.

A 9ft leader attached to the clear AquaLux tip gives you an effective 18 foot leader, which is stealthy enough for any big Florida bone. Your guide can still follow the fly at this length, while a totally clear line is really tough to track.

Rio Bonefish Saltwater Lines

Line for Precise Presentations

The demands of bonefishing require a balance of long and short casts with precise presentation. Rio's Bonefish line does just that, starting with a medium length front taper 6ft - 8ft (1.8m - 2.4m) to improve turnover without sacrificing presentation, and a slightly longer back taper to smooth out the casting loop.

Total head length is 43ft - 46ft (13.1m - 14m). A hard coating combined with a Powerflex single strand monofilament core results in longer casts and a line that holds up to heat even in the most extreme tropical conditions.

A clear immediate line with a sink rate of 1.5 inches per second. The short front bullet taper and medium length back taper are custom designed for casting heavy flies over long distances in cold saltwater conditions.

A moderately stiff line and very durable. Also great for pike fishing.

For night fishing, the luminescent running line glows when charged with a flashlight. The luminescent section shows the angler when there is the corrct length of line out of the rod tip for maximum casting performance.
