'THE ANGLE OF THE CAST' Gwilym Hughes 'THE ANGLE OF THE CAST' Gwilym Hughes

The Angle of the Cast (Gwilym Hughes). The immensely entertaining and brutally honest auto-biography from the living legend that is Gwilym Hughes.Beginning with his earliest years and the start of his fishing career, from his first sewin, through to his entry into the competition scene and beyond, this is one hugely enjoyable book.If you’ve had the privilege to meet the man himself, this book will be all the more enjoyable (and you may just start noticing some devilishly cheeky sarcasm/wit buried deep within the text).

A truly fantastic book, and one which I can’t recommend enough. Perfect for those cold, dark winter nights, and one which you’ll want to read again and again. A book which is already turning into a classic.

Hatch Match

Considerable mystique surrounds the fly-fisherman's choice of artificial fly when he attempts to match the natural insects of river or lake. Help is now on hand from the Turrall & Company, who have introduced a new-series of presentation- boxed 'hatch-matched' flies, designed specifically around the life-cycle of the most frequently found aquatic insects.

Each selection is presented in a handsome split-cane fly-box and includes 2 nymphs,
2 emergers, 2 duns and 2 spinners in each of the 4 insects selected, giving a total of 32 flies in each box. They also include a leaflet giving information on when the insects are likely to hatch and tips on how to fish each fly. The series covers spring and summer hatches, as well as a stillwater essentials selection.

The beautiful box is lightweight, floats and has a magnetic closure - almost too nice to take fishing! The flies are tied to Turrall's usual meticulous standards, of course.

Other series are planned covering specific fish species and regional requirements. The 'hatch-match' is a great idea, which is certain to prove popular for gifts, destination fly-fishers, the novice and expert alike.
