SALMON
FISHING IN RIVER LAPLAND SWEDEN

The area is dominated by the
river Muonio, known as one of the worlds foremost Grayling and
Brown trout rivers, the whole area is home to 5 of the most
productive Salmon rivers in the world , this area is known as
River Lapland . During the main Salmon runs all the rivers are
wade able and offer the fly fisherman some of the best river
conditions anywhere in Europe.
Clients can fish round the clock if they wish as the sun never
really sets....
Salmon and sea-trout run 300kms up the Muonio River from the
Baltic and it has grown to become the most important Salmon
river on the Baltic sea. It is said by those fishermen who know
both rivers to be better now than the famous Guala river in
Norway , which is high praise indeed.
Due to net bans and must stricter regulation of the commercial
fishing in the Area , catches on the Muonio have increased year
on year and it is estimated that by 2007 they will be back to
the quality of the record years of the 1920s. |

We take care of all practicable arrangements, including booking
your flights, so you can concentrate on and enjoy the fishing.
Local, English speaking fishing guides who know the waters
intimately will accompany you. Please note fishing in this
region is pure wilderness there are no pubs no shops and your
mobile phone will not probably work, this is an adventure
a real chance to stretch yourself in a total breathtaking
environment.

The local
method for catching salmon is Harling from boat with spoon
or lures , but due mainly to the advent of travelling foreign
anglers fly fishing is fast becoming the most popular method
.Fly Fishing for salmon still demands a lot of patience and
skill.
The size of the salmon runs from 5 kg - 15kgs but in the past
two seasons several fish have been taken up to 30 kgs.
As well as the Salmon, Grayling and Trout fishing. The surrounding
wetlands hold tens even hundreds of different lakes so for
a change of pace why not try some fly fishing for the many
good sized perch and pike that lurk in their depths. All of
the fishing can be done from boat or shore and your guide
will take you out for at least a few hours boat fishing each
day. Some of the lakes in the area also hold grayling, trout
and arctic char.
We can arrange full-package tours all types of fishermen and
have many different activities and excursions to keep non
fishing partners happy as well.
